Hi, Im Mauc, coder/game designer/graphics artist behind flare-rpg.org.

Flare stands for “FLash Advanced Role playing Engine”. My aim is to create a proper roleplaying game (and engine) with Adobe Flash.  Key features of the engine are:

  • freeform Isometric engine ( opposed to tile based engine )
  • real time combat system ( opposed to turn based )
  • simple (to use) user interface ansd inventory system
  • Dynamic game area system
  • AI pathfinding in freeform 2d world
  • Simple item based quest system
  • Simple savegame functionality
  • Fun and easy to play
  • Beautiful and captivating graphics (while maintaining low file size and low system requirements)
  • Lots of monsters, lots of  loot!

Since this is not my day work, but a “free time” project, there is no forced schedule.

The engine development is about 90% done, and I estimate it will be finished during Q2 2010. The game has currently just test content, so quests, dungeons and so on dont make much  sense yet.
