Character portrait & blending grass and rock

I couldn’t get sleep another night, and did’t have access to coding stuff, so I decided to do something different. Firstly, I tried making alpha blending to ground textures. I wasn’t sure if it is doable in flash, but it appeared to quite possible, if not straightforward.

One needs to create a MovieClip with layer filter applied, and inside the MovieClip there must be a mask image clip with alpha filter applied, and the other image. the  Result is quite nice:

Here is the mask image used, created in Photoshop, with just randomly applying all kind of effects. “White” parts are actually transparent:

I need to test this in client. If there is no performance issues, I’ll be using this a lot, I think.

Well, after this I decided to try to make a “character image” to be used in dialogue.  My Grand Plan is to create a face editor, so it will be easy and efficient to get dozens of different character images created. Well we will see about the easiness part later….

Anyway here is first character image. Its  still bit drafty, especially hair, but it has good proportions and orientation, so it will be good place to start building the editor, once i have time for it.

Yep, quite “animeish”…  but I’ll try to go towards more western style, maybe. Or not. We will see.  Btw, the image is done in flash entirely. those smooth skin tones are quite nice, aren’t they?
