Minimum game requirements

Creating a professional level (well, nearly so anyway..) rpg alone is quite a big task, so my plan is to make a limited featured game first, and then proceed with more features.

So here are the minimum specs:

  • Point and click interface (only mouse is used to play)
  • 2d isometric view, no rotating the view (the engine can support rotating the view already though)
  • Item based advancement: you find/loot weapons/potions/shields that you ca use to boost the character
  • 2 player character: male female: no stats difference, just visual
  • 3 npc monsters: skeleton, Flying scimitar,  1 other
  • Melee fight only.
  • Dynamically created random dungeon. 10 different floorplans, 1 outside area with “base camp”
  • Dungeon state saved only during the game session
  • Area changes via teleports
  • Loot types: Health Potion, gold, weapons, shields
  • Game state saved in death and when returning to base camp: items, gold, weapons, shields
  • Death-> items are lost, weapon/shield stay
  • No Quests, no inventory (just quick bar)

I’ll try to make this to work flawlessly first, then proceed to these:

  • 1 type of dungeon trap: Spike (when going near the trap it will hurt palyer. The trap is quite noticeable)
  • There are several different dungeons. The first one has free entrance, others have “key” to them which must be looted from other dungeon Boss monster
  • ingame inn with possibility to shop  items
  • Simple quest engine
  • Spell attacks

There is so much to do, but happily, Im my own boss in this case =)
