Peek to poses

In a comment to an earlier post, Callan kindly suggested a timesaving tip to speedup animation process.  This gave me idea to show a timeline snapshot, so you can get idea of the animation level I am aiming for:

Yes, it is getting quite complicated… and to add some more complexity, one needs to consider framerate issues  with different computer setups…

    That does look fiddley! Ever tempted to use something like a cloak, so you only have to animate the feet at the bottom or some such short cut? Perhaps just for monsters, anyway.

    I find it’s best to simply prerender each frame of the sprite, if you don’t intend to have any customizable accessories. In the event of accessories, you prerender the character in the most basic form possible and render accessories above or below the basic form of the character. It still takes a lot of time.
